Wow! Let me repeat that - WOW!!
California always delivers in spades. It never disappoints.
The route from Bakersfield to Morro Bay was just perfect enough to whet your appetite. Cunning Cali canyon corners cut cross-country carving crafty curves. The landscape obliged with a variety of eye-popping scenic beauty. I highly recommend Hwy 58 from Bakersfield to Morro Bay. And, BTW, the Miata ain't no slouch when it comes to handling the twisties!
We hit the Pacific Coast at one of our favorite spots, Morro Bay. The timing was right for a breakfast by the bay!!

Hey...a gals gotta eat somewhere!
After breakfast we headed up Hwy 1. Interestingly, the C&W song of the year is entitled Die a Happy Man. The lyrics describe the depths of the singer's love for his lady. Just knowing her is enough to see him through his days on earth, I was reminded of the lyric wherein he says, "I may never build my mansion in Georgia or drive a sports car up the coast of California." And I'm thinkin' - Whoa! We just did that! How cool is that! Am I a lucky man or what?!
From Morro Bay we pressed on up the coast to a second favorite stop, Rocky Point Restaurant. The view and the food may make it our favorite restaurant anywhere! The snaps below should explain why we're so prejudiced.
